V.O.C.O

Funny story in the middle of critique of these three this girl bumped the table and broke 2 of the three. Porcelain and hand designed.

Hand Built trees

Time heals all wounds.

These are a big part of me.  It is unusual for me to do Hand Built work out of assignment.  Do to my pride of functionality.  I chose to do these and set them up from fall to summer. When I was creating these it was fall time and my dad passed away.  I chose the seasons for several reasons to show change, passing of time, and location. I did a large wound in fall to symbolize how I was feeling and showed it closing over time. I chose to incorporate bowls because I think bowls are one of the most functional forms of ceramics.  I used them to show the seasons, but also emotion.  I feel like sometime I am right side up and other times upside down.  So in fall I felt a little upside down. In winter I turned right side up. I guessed for spring and summer.  I hoped I would be more open in spring.  I found that by summer the wound though still apparent was healed, also my bowl was so full that I could no longer contain it. That is why it is up in the trees for summer.

Best Christmas Ever!

The best gifts are those that come from the heart.  All I have to say is this is the best gift ever from my talented husband.  Art is something that is expression to me and it is so nice to have someone that cares and has talent to show it off. Thanks for the site honey!

Soda Firing - always fun in the COLD

As soda fires are my favorite, I have decided to fire most of this semesters work in the soda fire. Here are just a few shots of the setup. The kiln is just about to reach cone 10 as I post this.

Here is a sneak peak to a fun, new sake jar that I recently made. I hope the soda firing does it well.

Bricking up the kiln door...

Finally, the kiln is is closed.

Baby, won't you light my fire???

Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover...

I have decided to make a book (patterned after the toothed Harry Potter book). This book will actually be a box, and will be mean and scary on the outside. However, the inside will be sweet an elegant.

Meanest book that I've ever seen!
